YearLy REport

When we moved in, it was our vision to clean up the outside of the property and modernize the inside to create a more functional and attractive. We have also fallen in love with the land and learned out to cultivate it and bring out it’s potential. Here’s what we’ve done thus far!

Creating an Oasis

Although still a work in progress, we have been hard at work on the yard since the Fall, once we realized that we had enough energy to tackle the backyard. Our goal was to get rid of the weeds that took over the yard and to create a space where Theo could safely play and for us to relax as a family.

We started with the lawn, by sowing grass in the Fall which has taken root and we hope to keep alive through the summer. Theo’s favorite activity is watering the plants, so we have lots of help! We also found people to generously donate thousands of dollars worth of plants and pottery to bring life to the yard so that we could enjoy it. We have found someone giving away reclaimed lattice that we plan to paint and cover up the chain linked fence/palm trees around the raised section of the yard and invested our own funds into bougainvillea and a few other plants to grow along the fence line to create a beautiful hedge overtime.

Little by little it’s coming together. We are very proud to call this home and Theo absolutely loves taking care of the garden.

FRONT YARD

Scott has taken up the responsibility of tending to the grape vines on the property since last year. This past fall, we did research and learned how to prune and train a grapevine to yield delicious, ripe grapes. These pictures show Scott in the yard pruning the vines.

After Scott’s hard work, the yield of grapes last year was amazing, so amazing that it caught the eye of a family of raccoons who would visit every night and dine on the delicious grapes. Scott was able to pick enough to let us try some and to try making his own wine (which is still aging).

We are excited for all the growth that is happening in the garden and Theo is the happiest toddler with so much to do and explore!
