PRODUCT & PACKAGING DESIGN
I was commissioned by a local artist to turn her paintings of famous women in history into a product that she could sell in order to support her family. After doing research, we planned to turn her most popular paintings into mini-print postcard sets to sell at galleries, local stores and online. From concept to creation, here is the process!
This client is an artist and had created a series of large scale paintings that she wanted to turn into smaller print products. With only a name and some product photos, we got to work! I first started by interviewing her to get an understanding of her style and how she wanted her brand to be conveyed to the world. From there, we started with creating a logo...
Once the logo was created, I started designing smaller scale print cards...
From there we needed packaging. Since this client was on a budget and had a small run she needed for her first set of custom sized cards, I needed to create something brand new to fit the need. I started designing the packaging based off of her desired card size. I chose to use a laser printer to laser cut the die and hand-fold for the first 100 prototype products...
then I hand-made a stamp for the logo in order to save on printing costs to stamp the outside of the packaging with a simple yet clean look...
Then I took product photos...
And built a website (www.groundbreakinggirls.com)...
where she now sells her products!
